Councillor Colin Hall
Councillor Colin Hall was born and raised in Leicester and attended Inglehurst and Rushey Mead Infants Schools, Northfield House Junior School and the City of Leicester School. He graduated from Essex University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Government. Since then, he has been employed in a number of occupations, including parliamentary assistant, senior administrator and medical records clerk.
The Lord Mayor was first elected to the City Council in 1991 for the Belgrave Ward, but left the Council in 1996 before returning in 2003. In May 2007 he was elected as one of three councillors for the New Parks Ward. The Lord Mayor is currently a Governor at Stokes Wood Primary School and Braunstone Frith Infants School.
His father, the late Councillor John Hall, also served on the City Council between 1971 and 1987. His mother, Marilyn Hall, was Lady Mayoress of Leicester during the 1999-2000 municipal year and recently retired after 25 years as a City Magistrate.
The Lord Mayor is the first New Parks Councillor to be elected to the office of Lord Mayor for the 2010-2011 municipal year since the late Councillor George Billington in 1993.
He is a lifelong supporter and former shareholder of Leicester City Football Club, who he has followed for many years throughout Britain and Europe. His other interests include writing, music, travel and quizzes.
The Lord Mayor’s theme of the mayoral year is Health and Wellbeing.
