(10th year of the reign of King John)
His name as alderman of the gild merchant is first met with on the Latin roll 5 February 1209, again 1 May 1214, and he appears to have held the office several years later. As "alderman of Leic." he is mentioned in a deed of about 1220 re lands at Belgrave. His descendants were living here a century and a half later.
(King John died at Newark castle 17 October 1216. Henry Ill, his son, was crowned king in Gloucester Cathedral 28 October same year. On 23 July 1218 the young king, Henry Ill, came to Leic. and again 27 May and 22 June 1220).
