1309 JOHN ALSY (10)

1309-1312 JOHN ALSY.

(22)

Undoubtedly a son of John Alsy, sometime receiver of Leic., and perhaps descended from Amfredus, the son of Alsi, living 1159. He entered the gild in 1298, became a rich burgess, was again mayor 1315, 1316, 1324, 1325, 1327 and for a tenth time in 1337. His name is frequently met with in local records. He resided in the Saturday market and appears to have died about 1340 leaving issue.

(Queen Isabella visited Leic. 1309 and King Edward II stayed here 4 August 1310).
