Son of John de Knightcote of Leic., living 1270; enrolled a member of the gild merchant in 1291 as John de Knitekot, jun. He was M.P. for the borough 1301 and 1306, and for the county in 1335. He is frequently referred to in the records as John de Knighton, mercer. Whether he was identical with the John de Knighton, son of John de Knighton by Alice his wife, who is named in a De Banco Roll of 1314 re a toft, etc., in Fleckney, co. Leic., is not certain.
