1318 WILLIAM del WAYNHOUSE

1318 WILLIAM del WAYNHOUSE.

(26)

Eldest son of Richard del Waynhouse of Leic., 1290, and Isabella, his wife; admitted a member of the gild in 1291-2. He was a considerable property owner and one of the wealthiest burgesses of the borough in his time, having probably achieved prosperity as a successful wool merchant. In 1335 he was charged with forestalling seven woolfellers and was ordered to be distrained by the Grand Distress. He died about 1340. His kinsman and namesake occurs as a benefactor to the gild of St. Margaret, Leic., in 1355-6
