1336 WILLIAM WAREYN.
(34)
Son of Thomas Wareyn of Leic. He was admitted a brother of the gild of merchants 1319 -20, was M.P. for the borough 1330 and 1339. We learn from the local records that with other townsmen he took an active part in the rebuilding of the West bridge in 1325-6, by supplying a quantity of stone and material for its construction. This bridge of several stone arches with a small chapel later standing upon it, dedicated to Our Lady, existed until 1840 when it was removed to make way for a wider structure mainly built of iron.
William Wareyn was again mayor in 1356 and was living in 1360
