1387 & 1388 RICHARD de BRAUNSTON.
(59)
Probably a son of Richard de Braunston of Leic. and identical with the man of the same name, a mason, who was admitted into the gild in 1365,6. He was a chamberlain 1379, M.P. for Leic. 1383, and a benefactor to the gild of Corpus Christi. Living 1399. Both Throsby and Thompson, the historians, state that this man, like his predecessor, filled the civic chair two years in succession. This may be true, but it must be stated that the local records, being defective at this early period, do not confirm their statements.
(Richard Il and his Queen passed through Leic. several times in 1388).
