1463 JOHN REYNOLD (2)

1463 JOHN REYNOLD,

(105)

(Merchant).

Son and heir of John Reynold, mayor in 1434, and described in a Patent Roll 1470 as a merchant. During his term of office, the first appointment of magistrates for the borough took place by Letters Patent bearing date 24 August, 4 Edward IV, 1464. Actually this charter was first drawn up during the mayoralty of John Yeoman, the preceding mayor. (See Borough Records, vol 2, p. 280). He was again mayor 1477; married and had issue. In 1484 he was appointed alderman of the seventh ward. He appears to have been living as late as 1518.

(King Edward IV again at Leic. castle 2 June 1464).
