Son of John and Isabella Smith of Oakham, co. Rutland ; born about 1475, admitted a freeman of the borough 1505~6 and was one of the commissioners for the subsidy in 1513-4. He died in 1522 and was buried near the remains of his wife Anne, at St. Martin's. Will, dated 5 May 1522, proved at Leic. 18 October following. He left legacies to Oakham and Burley churches for masses and prayers for the souls of his father and mother
