AId. Robert Staples was admitted a freeman of the borough in 1488,9 and died early in December follow, ing his election as mayor. He was buried in St. George's chapel in St. Martin's church. Will, dated 12 December 1524, was proved at Leic. In it he names his son Richard, daughter Goodith, and brother (in law), Robert Harwar. His widow Alice, died in 1546.
