Eldest son of Richard Yates of Leic. where he was born about 1540; enrolled a free burgess 1561~2, elected a chamberlain 1566, an alderman 1585 and a coroner in 1587. He died leaving issue in 1600, buried in St. Margaret's church. Will, dated 2 June 1600, was proved in the Prebendal Court of St. Margaret's 25 November 1600 by Joane, his relict and executrix.
