1603   HUGH HUNTER, (Yeoman and Innholder).

Perhaps descended from the Hunters of Snarestone, co. Leic. He was born about 1558, enrolled a freeman 1582~3 being described as a yeoman in the Hall Book; elected a chamberlain 1585, an alderman 1589, a coroner 1593 and a bailiff 1602. He died leaving issue in 1618, buried at St. Mary's 9 April. Will not found. His wife Ursula, predeceased him about three weeks, both dying of the plague (vide St. Mary's registers). One of their daughters, Elizabeth, married William Peck of Leic., gent., son of John Peck of Ridlington, co. Rutland.
