Eldest son of AId. Ralph Chettell, mayor in 1591; born about 1559, admitted a freeman 1581~2, a member of the company of the forty~eight in 1589, a coroner 1596 and an alderman 1599. In 1606 he was one of the local tradesmen who signed the memorial in favour of Sunday closing of shops. He married at St. Martin's 14 July 1583 Anne, daughter of Thomas Newcombe of Leic., and dying in 1635 was buried at St. Martin's 8 April of that year.
