1611   JOHN FREAKE, (Butcher).

Second son of AId. Philip Freake who was mayor in 1581 he was born about 1560, admitted a free burgess 1582,3, was mayor's chamberlain 1587,8, a member of the forty,eight named in Elizabeth's charter of 1589, and a coroner in 1601. By Catherine his wife, daughter of Thomas Stanford, who predeceased him, he had a a large family (vide St. Nicholas' registers).

AId. John Freake died at his residence in Applegate Street and was buried in accordance with his desire in St. Nicholas' church. The parish register records his burial on 9 November 1625. His will, made 20 July 1625, was proved at Leic. the same year.
