Eldest son of Henry Murfin of Leic.; was baptized at St. Martin's 6 January 1573A, admitted a freeman 1597~8, elected a chamberlain in 1626 but being unable to write, was discharged from the office on payment of a fine of £10. He was elected an alderman 1627 and was one of the borough bailiffs in 1635~6. The register of St. Martin's records his marriage with Anne Kirke 27 September 1612. He died without leaving issue 4 October 1660, aged eighty~eight, and was buried at St. Martin's two days later. The following inscription was in Nichols' time, 1790, to be seen on a flat stone in St. Martin's church, but has since disappeared :-
"The remains of Daniell Morfium, gent, one of the aldermen, and once mayor of the Borough of Leicester,
aged 88, and changed October the 4th, 1660."
The will of Daniel Murfyn, alderman of Leic., bearing date 14 February 1659~60, was proved at Leic. 12 October 1660.
