1645 EDMUND CRADOCK, (Mercer).

A younger son of Robert Cradock of East Farndon, Northants.; born about 1600, admitted a free burgess of Leic. as the late apprentice of AId. Roger Cotes, mercer, 1624~5, elected a member of the forty~eight in 1626, a chamberlain 1638 and an alderman 17 May 1641. He was one of the Parliamentary Committee appointed for the borough during the Civil Wars and was again mayor in 1657. He married at St. Martin's 4 December 1627 Anne, daughter of Arthur Clark of Leic., by whom he had issue, four sons and one daughter.

AId. Cradock was the ancestor of the Cradocks of Leic. and Knighton, now represented by the Cradock~ Hartopps, bart. He died at his residence in the Newarke, Leic., and was buried at St. Martin's 5 September 1667 ; will proved at Leic. 1667.

Arms :-Azure, three boars' heads cabossed between nine cross crosslets argent. Crest :-A boar's head couped sable. Motto :-HE KYMERO. Plate 3.
