1650   JOHN SUMMERFIELD, (Brewer).

Probably a son of AId. Thomas Summer field of Leic.,

tanner 1595 ; born about 1580, admitted a freeman of the borough 1613A, was one of the chamberlains 1625, an alderman 1635, married and had issue.

AId. Summer field was originally apprenticed to a mercer but latterly he appears to have been engaged as a brewer. He was buried at St. Margaret's 10 September 1656. Administration of his goods, etc., was granted by the P.C.C., London, 1656.

(General Cromwell again at Leic. early in September 1651).

 

Population of Leic. 1650 estimated at 3,700 persons.
