1651   ALEXANDER BAKER, (Mercer).

Presumably son of a Richard Baker of (--) co. Leic.,

and a nephew of Thomas Baker of Saddington, in whose will, proved at Leic. in 1613, he is mentioned. He was born about 1596 ; admitted a freeman as the late appren~ tice of AId. Roger Cotes 1618,9, joined the company of the forty,eight councillors 1624, elected a chamberlain 1632, an alderman 23 October 1637 and a coroner in 1645. He was a churchwarden of St. Martin's 1630,32, again mayor in 1671, married and left issue.

AId. Baker was buried at St. Margaret's 29 May 1680; will proved in the P.C.C., London, 24 November following.
