1669 ANDREW FREEMAN, (Mercer).

Probably a son of Andrew Freeman, a Londoner, some~ time of Leic., who died in 1680 j was born about 1627, apprenticed to AId. Alexander Baker, mercer, mayor in 1651, admitted free of the borough 1652, elected a councillor 1655, alderman 1664, coroner 1666 and again mayor in 1683, resigned from the corporation in 1698 upon leaving the town. He married, but at his death which took place at Kilby, co. Leic., in 1706 he left no surviving issue. His will, bearing date 21 November 1704, was proved at Leic. in 1706. Mrs. Anne Freeman nee Bent, his relict, was buried at St. Martin's 21 June 1709, aged eighty~two.

The Freemans of London, descended from Edward Freeman of Harringworth, Northants., entered their pedigree at the Visitation of London in 1568 and recorded their arms :-Azure, three lozenges argent in chief a crescent or. Of this family was Ralph Freeman, Lord Mayor of London 1633.
