1676   EDMUND SUTTON, (Maltster).

Probably a son of Robert Sutton sometime of Leic.

He was born about 1620, admitted a freeman as a "stranger" 1644,5, was a member of the forty,eight, 1657, an alderman 1664 and a bailiff in 1668. By Susanna, his wife, he had several children, his eldest son, Rev. Christopher Sutton, born 1646, was rector of Sapcote, co. Leic. for several years.

AId. Sutton's name disappears from the Hall Book soon after Michaelmas 1685. About that date, owing to financial trouble, he was imprisoned for debt but liberated and dismissed from the corporate body in July 1686. He was buried at St. Mary's 5 March 1689. Will, dated 26 February 1689, was proved at Leic. 24 Septem, ber 1690.
