1678 PHILIP ABNEY, (Maltster).

Fourth son of Paul Abney of Leic., gent., and a nephew of AId. Dannett Abney, mayor in 1648. He was baptized at St. Mary's 23 November 1623, admitted a free burgess of the borough 1648,9, became a member of the company of the forty,eight, 1650, chamberlain 1661,2 and an alderman in 1664. He resided in St. Mary's parish and was churchwarden there in 1652. By Anne, his wife, who survived him, he had one son, John, who served as mayor in 1700, and a daughter Mary, who became the wife of Thomas Holyland.

AId. Philip Abney was buried at St. Mary's 15 May 1697, aged seventy,four. Will proved at Leic. in August the same year.
