This gentleman was the eldest son of AId. Edmund Cradock, mayor in 1645, and was born in 1634. For some years he was the landlord of the once famous Angel Inn, in Cheapside and Gallowtree Gate, was an alderman in 1680, and with other colleagues in 1688, he signed the pledge of adhersion to the Prince of Orange's cause; married Jane, daughter of Henry Hastings of Humberstone, and had issue, eight children. His eldest son, Rev. Joseph Cradock, M.A., rector of Markfield 1699, married Katherine, only daughter and heiress of John Norrice, the last male of the Norrices of Leic.
AId. Joseph Cradock died at his private residence in All Saints' parish and was buried at St. Martin's 8 November 1700, aged sixty~six. Administration of his personal estate was granted at Leic., 4 February following, to Jane his relict.
