Eldest son of AId. Walter Hood, mayor in 1685; baptized at St. Margaret's 22 December 1668, admitted a freeman 10 January 1688~9, elected a member of the common council 1694 and an alderman 18 September 1702; resided near the Bear Hill Cross, now the Hay~ market. He married firstly at Scraptoft, co. Leic., 6 February 1708, Grace Woodcock, widow, she died in March 1715, and secondly at Scraptoft 14 February
1722, Wilmot Guile. By his second wife, who died 1766, he had an only daughter, Wilmot, born 16 May 1726, who married at St. Martin's, Leic., 19 April 1748 Sir Thomas Gresley, Bart., of Drakelow, co. Derby.
AId. Hood was again elected mayor on the death of AId. Winfield in November 1720. He was buried at St. Martin's 20 December 1741, aged seventy,three. Will, dated 9 December 1741, was proved in London, 18 June 1742.

At a Common Hall held 23 November 1720 AId. Edward Hood, who had previously occupied the civic chair, was elected mayor in room of AId. Robert Winfield, deceased.
