1714   JOHN PARES, (Dyer).

Eldest son of AId. John Pares, mayor in 1695; was baptized at St. Margaret's 21 November 1665, admitted a freeman 10 January 1688~9, joined the corporation later, a chamberlain 1701, an alderman 24 September 1707 and a bailiff in 1713 ; married Mary, daughter of John Orme of Shopnall Hall, co. Stafford, by whom, who died in 1722, he had an only daughter and heiress, Mary, who married AId. Samuel Miles of Leic. (No. 320).

AId. Pares died on Christmas Day 1739, aged seventy, four, and was buried three days later near the remains of his wife in St. Margaret's church. M.I. there to both. His will, dated 19 April 1738, was proved at Leic. 5 July 1740.

"Here lieth interred the body of John Pares, gent., one of the aldermen and once mayor of this Borough and senior of the 72 members of this antient Corporation. He departed this life Dec. 25 1739, aged 74.

Here also lieth interred the body of Mary, the wife of the said John Pares, gent., and daughter of John Orme of Shopnall Hall in Staffordshire, gent.

She departed this life February 24. 1722, aged 49."
