1730 HENRY SMITH, (Baker).

Son of William Smith of Leic., fellmonger, born about 1673, apprenticed to Thomas Deakin of Leic., baker, admitted free 10 April 1702, sworn one of the forty, eight common council 14 September 1705 and appointed a chamberlain in 1718. He resided and carried on business in Shambles Lane, now St. Nicholas' Street ; died leaving issue and was buried at St. Martin's 1 June 1735, aged sixty,two. Will, dated 22 January 1722. Administration of his personal estate, etc., with the will annexed, was granted at Leic. 19 July 1735 to William Smith of Leic., clerk, a son and one of the general legatees named in the will.
