1735 SAMUEL SIMPSON, (Grocer and Ironmonger).

A member of a Leic. family being the second son of AId. Thomas Simpson and baptized at St. Martin's 3 September 1677, made free of the borough 1703, joined the corporation in September 1706, filling various offices later. He married at St. Martin's 28 November 1710 Mary Harrison and had issue several sons and daughters. His eldest son, Samuel, became mayor in 1751.

Mr. AId. Simpson was buried at St. Martin's 6 July 1742, aged sixty,five. His will, dated 19 June 1742, was proved at Leic. by his eldest son and sole executor 11 November following.
