1737  WILLIAM LEE, (Goldsmith).

Second son of AId. Roger Lee and descended from an old Leic. family; was baptized at St. Martin's 29 Novem, ber 1691, admitted a freeman 7 April 1716, joined the corporation shortly afterwards and filled various offices; elected mayor for a second time in 1754. He married twice, (1) Penelope, daughter of Rev. -- Goode of Weldon Northants., she died without issue, and (2) in 1727 Anne, daughter of AId. John Ludlam of Leic., by whom he had a son and one daughter. His son, Rev. John Lee, M.A., rector of Burton Overy 1758, was the ancestor of the Thorpe family of that parish.

AId. Lee died 1 and was buried at St. Martin's 12 August 1759, aged sixty,eight. M.I. in the church there. Will, dated 21 July 1758, was proved at Leic. 14 August 1759 by his daughter Mary, the sole executrix.
