1741 JOHN CARTWRIGHT, (Framesmith).

Fourth son of James Cartwright of Leic., joiner, and descended from an old Leic. family; was enrolled a freeman 11 April 1705, joined the council 1716, was a

chamberlain 1729 and an alderman in 1736. He married at St. Margaret's 27 March 1707 Anne Valentine by whom, who was buried at St. Martin's 4 September 1750, aged sixty,five, M.I., he had issue. His second son, John, filled the civic chair in 177l.

AId. Cartwright was a churchwarden of St. Martin's in 1730. He died 21 and was buried there 24 March 1754, aged sixty,nine. M.I. in the churchyard. Will, dated 7 February 1738, was proved at Leic. 20 April 1754.
