1746 THOMAS TOPP, (Hosier).

Eldest son of Thomas Topp of Leic., born 19 and baptized at St. Martin's 26 December 1707, made free 13 May 1730, soon afterwards joining the corporation; became a chamberlain 1737 and later an alderman. He married at St. Martin's 8 October 1730 Mary, daughter of AId. Roger Lee of Leic., she was buried there in 1753, and by her had several sons and one daughter. His son, Rev. Samuel Topp, M.A., was sometime vicar of Withcote and later of Scraptoft, co. Leic.

AId. Thomas Topp died in the prime of life in 1747, aged forty, and was buried at St. Martin's 20 December the same year. His will, dated 25 February 1745,6, was proved in the P.C.C., London, 9 March 1747,8 by Mary Topp, his widow and executrix.

Arms of T opp of Leic. :-Argent, on a canton gules a gauntlet clasped proper. Crest :-A gauntlet grasping a hand couped at the wrist all proper. Plate 5.
