1755   JAMES SISMEY, (Grocer).

Son of John and Jane Sismey of Thorpe by Water, later

of Liddington and Tixover, co. Rutland, and a descend, ant of William Deane, mayor in 1670 (No. 258). He was born in or about the year 1709 ; apprenticed in 1726 to Edmund Ludlam of Leic., mercer and grocer, but no record of his admission as a freeman of Leic. has been found entered on the rolls. In 1744 he was a church, warden of St. Martin's and one of the borough chamber, lains the same year; was living at Stoneygate in 1768 and later at Belgrave ; married and left numerous issue. He died at Belgrave and was interred in St. Martin's

churchyard, Leic., 17 November 1778, aged sixty~nine. Will, dated 1 January 1770, was proved at Leic. by Elizabeth, his widow and executrix, 22 May 1780.
