1758   ROBERT BELTON, (Worsted Maker).

Eldest son of AId. Samuel Belton, mayor in 1743 ; was

born 2 and baptized at St. Martin's 12 January 1709~1O, enrolled a free burgess 12 June 1733, a councillor 1739, chamberlain 1745 and sworn an alderman in 1755. In 1741 he possessed freehold property at Leic., resided latterly in Silver Street, and according to the registers of St. Martin's, had eleven children by his wife Frances.

AId. Robert Belton died intestate in 1776 and was buried in St. Martin's churchyard 11 December, aged sixty~seven. M.I. to him and his wife there. Adminis~ tration of his personal effects, etc., was granted at Leic. 4 March 1777 to Robert Belton, his son.
