1775   JOSEPH JOHNSON, (Grazier).

Second son of Joseph Johnson of Leic., grazier, and a

nephew of AId. Edmund Johnson, mayor in 1711 j was baptized at St. Nicholas' 12 March 1723, enrolled a freeman 18 April 1754, elected a member of the forty, eight, 1759 and one of the borough chamberlains 1766, later an alderman. He married at St. Nicholas'

29 April 1755 Martha, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Bonner of Leic., she was born 1728 and died 1807, and by her had issue two sons and three daughters.

Mr. AId. Johnson was buried at St. Mary's 11 October 1800, aged seventy~seven. M.I. there. His will, a long record, dated 1 March 1797, was proved at Leic. 24 January 1801. Effects sworn under £2,000.
