1791    JOSEPH NEAL, (Woolstapler).

Third son of Thomas Neal of Leic., was born in 1735, made free of the borough 2 September 1766, later be, came a useful member of the corporation. During his mayoralty he took an active part at public meetings in support of the abolition of slavery. He died at his residence in Harvey Lane, leaving issue, 14 November and was buried at St. Mary's 21 November 1816, aged eighty-one. M.I. to him and his wife in the churchyard there.
