Eldest son of AId. Joseph Johnson, mayor in 1775. Born 11 November 1763, admitted a freeman of the borough 7 October 1788, chosen a chamberlain 1790; married 5 January 1802 Rebecca, daughter of Samuel Robinson of Halifax, Yorks., by whom, who died in 1857, he had issue seven children, four sons and three daughters. Descendants still living.
Mr. AId. Johnson was the owner of a valuable estate at Knighton. He died at his residence, Oxford Street, in February 1837 and was buried with his ancestors at St. Mary's 10 February, aged seventy-three.
