Eldest surviving son and apprentice of AId. Benjamin Gregory, grocer, who was mayor in 1794. He was born 27 October and baptized at St. Margaret's 6 November 1774, made free 21 September 1795, resided and carried on business as a grocer in Millstone Lane for a number of years. This business he relinquished about 1812, and later lived in retirement on the London Road. He was a joint chamberlain in 1798, married and had besides other issue two sons, who were later prominent solicitors in practice at Leic.
Mr. AId. Gregory retired with the members of the old regime in 1835. His death took place 8 February 1844, aged seventy, and his remains were laid to rest in Aylestone churchyard. M.I. there to him and his wife.
