1819      ROBERT JOHNSON, (Hosier).

The second and youngest son of AId. Joseph Johnson, senior, mayor in 1775. He was born at Leic. 25 February 1766, admitted a freeman 12 May 1790, was a chamber~ lain in 1801 and retired with the old corporation in 1835; married Elizabeth, daughter of Michael Payne of the Newarke, Leic., by whom, when died 29 December 1833, he had four sons and two daughters. Descendants still living.

Mr. Robert Johnson died 29 August 1842, aged seventy~ six, and his remains were interred in St. Mary’s church~ yard, where a monument to him and to his wife still remains. Will proved in the P.C.C., London, 1843.

 

(King George III died at Windsor 29 January 1820 and was succeeded by his son the Prince Regent as George IV).
