Eldest surviving son of Henry Wood of Leic.; was born 18 and baptized at St. Mary's 20 June 1780, admitted a freeman 7 July 1804, was a councillor and joint chamberlain in 1810. He married in 1804 Sarah, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Houghton of Arley, co. Stafford, by whom he had an only daughter who died young.
Mr. Henry Wood retired from the hosiery business and public life about 1831, and afterwards took a farm at Cropston, co. Leic., where he lived for some years. Later he resided at Quorn, co. Leic., and died there 19 April 1865, aged eighty-five. He was buried beside the remains of his wife in Quorn churchyard. M.I. to both near the north porch.
