Eldest son of James Rawson of Leic. and descended from an old Notts. family. He was born at Leic. 20 November and baptized at St. Martin's 21 November 1780, admitted a freeman 3 December 1800 and elected a member of the council in 1812. The parish register of Basford, Notts., records his marriage there by licence 25 February 1801 with Ann Pearson. He was one of the numerous hosiery manufacturers here a century ago; retired with the old corporation in December 1835, and latterly resided at Enderby. His eldest son James Rawson continued with the hosiery business for some years.
