1830 JOHN BROWN, (Hosier).

Second son of the Rev. William Brown, master of the Free Grammar School at Stoke Golding, co. Leic., where he was born 24 January 1782 and was enrolled a freeman of Leic. 10 June 1808. He married at St. Nicholas' 20 October 1812 Martha, daughter of Henry and Martha Clark of Leic., and by her, who died in 1817, had an only son who died in infancy.

Mr. AId. Brown retired with the old corporation in December 1835. His death took place at his residence in St. Nicholas' Street 14 July 1850, aged sixty-eight. Mural tablet in St. Nicholas' church where both he and his wife were buried.
