Son of AId. Richard Harris of Leic., mayor in 1843, with whom he was apprenticed. He was born 14 April 1812, admitted a freeman 10 May 1833, elected a councillor 1 November 1841 for West St. Mary's Ward, an alderman 10 November 1856 and later appointed a J.P.
He died 3 May 1874, aged sixty,two, and his remains were interred in the family vault at the Welford Road Cemetery. M.L Will proved at Leic. 24 August 1874 by George Shirley Harris and John Dove Harris, hosiery manufacturers, and Alfred John Hamel, spinner, all of Leic., the executors. Effects sworn under £70,000.
