Mr. Hollings was, for a short period, usher of the Proprietary School at Leic., an ardent supporter of the various educational institutions of the town, one of the earliest members of the Literary and Philosophical Society, a barrister at law and a gentleman of antiquarian tastes. He came to a dis~ tressing end shortly after the death of his wife, 15 September 1862, aged fifty, six, and was interred at the Welford Road Cemetery. M.1. A memorial column, erected to his memory soon afterwards in the Museum grounds, by those who knew the nobleness of his character, the vigour of his intellect, and the tenderness of his heart, is still standing.
His will, dated 26 May 1862, was proved at Leic. 23 September 1862 by the oaths of William Biggs and Joseph Biggs, the executors. Effects sworn under £10,000.
