Third son of John Burgess of Wigston Orange, co. Leic., and descended from an old Leics. family. He was born in 1806, became a councillor for East St. Margaret's Ward 1 November 1855, an alderman 9 November 1865 and appointed a J.P. in 1857; married and left issue.
Mr. Alfred Burgess died at Stoneygate 26 November 1882, aged seventy,six, and was interred at the Welford Road Cemetery. M.I. His will, with a codicil, was proved at Leic. 28 December 1882 by John Oulson Burgess, accountant, and Alfred Howard Burgess, solici, tor, both of Berridge Street, the sons, and Elizabeth Burgess of Elmfield Avenue, Stoneygate, Leic., widow, the relict, the executors. Personal estate £2,643 16s. 6d.
