Son of Thomas William Hodges of Leic. where he was born 9 January 1807 and descended from the Hodges family of Barkby, co. Leic. He entered the council 1 November 1859 being returned for East St. Mary's Ward, elected an alderman 26 June 1862 and appointed a J.P. in 1869 ; mayor of Leic. for three successive years.

Mr. Hodges, who married and left issue, died at his residence, Mayfield, Stoneygate, 1 October 1874, aged sixty,seven, and was buried at the Welford Road Cemetery. M.I. His will was proved at Leic. 19 October

 

1874 by Josiah Gimson of Leic., engineer, and Thomas Fielding Johnson of Knighton, worsted spinner, and George Stevenson of Leic., gentleman. Effects sworn under £80,000.
