Daughter of the late Joseph Frisby of Leicester, Founder of the Firm of Joseph Frisby, Ltd. Multiple Footwear Stores, is herself a Director of said Firm. Educated at The Wyggeston Girls' School. On leaving School, became an active worker interested in the Social welfare of the City.

In 1909 was one of the local pioneer women, who formed a Branch in Leicester of "The Women's Social and Political Union."

1910 and 1911-Member of various Deputations ·to The House of Commons with respect to the enfranchisement of women.

1913-Went to reside in London and was a student at The School of Political Economy and a voluntary worker at The Women's Social and Political Union Headquarters, Kingsway.

1914, on holiday in Antwerp when War broke out returned to Leicester and immediately organised and opened a Clothing Depot for the families of reservists called to the colours.

October, 1914-Retumed to London to resume studies and joined the Women's Police Patrols.

January, 1916, with members of her family gave a Y.M.C.A. Hut in the training camp at Seaford, Sussex, and, together with her sister (the Lady Mayoress), took charge of it. The first woman to be the responsible leader of a Y.M.C.A. Hut and to have permission to live in a Military Camp. Her work for the Y.M.C.A. continued until April, 1919, and after the Canadians took over the Seaford Camp, was at Luton, Margate, Parkeston and London.

In January, 1918, received the Order of M.B.E., from King George V.

1922-Joined the Conservative Association and became an active worker in Knighton Ward.

1926-Formed a Branch of Young Britons in South Leicester-an Organisation for children between the ages of 6 and 14, to teach Citizenship, Patriotism, and love of Empire. Other Branches were formed later under her Chairmanship of the Division and Vice, Chairmanship of Midland Area. This Organisation was disbanded at the outbreak of War, 1939, after 13 years successful work.

1927-Appointed a Justice of the Peace.

In the same year was invited and persuaded by Members of Knighton Ward Men's Conservative Association to be their representative on the City Council. At the Election was the successful one of three Candidates, and so was the first woman of the Conservative Group to be on the Council.

1937-Coronation year. Was High Bailiff, the first woman to hold that ancient Office.

Has travelled extensively. Has always been an active and public-spirited worker, and for the past 20 years has held many Offices in the Conservative Party.

At the present time (1942) is Chairman of The Women's Central Council (Leicester), also Honorary Divisional Secretary of South Leicester, and Chairman of Knighton Ward Women's Association.

Is also President of the local Branch of the National Council of Women, and Chairman of Leicester and District Girls' Training Corps Administrative Committee.

For the first 18 months of War did much work for Evacuees.

Organised first Salvage Campaign in City. Is a member of the W.V.S.

Her year of Office as Lord Mayor was a memorable one, being the first woman Lord Mayor of the City and having her sister, Miss Jessie Frisby, as Lady Mayoress.
