Son of the late Edward John Gillot, born at Leicester on the 29th June, 1881, educated at Humberstone Road Wesleyan School, and is now senior partner of Gillot and Pratt, Accountants, Leicester.

Always interested in civic affairs he was first elected to the City Council as a representative for the West Humberstone Ward on the 1st November, 1928, which he continued to represent until the 31st October, 1934. On the 27th September, 1937, he was again elected to the City Council as a representative for the Evington Ward, a vacancy having occurred by Councillor A. H. Swain being raised to the Aldermanic Bench. He was High Bailiff in 1932 and in the same year was Chairman of the Leicester Pageant Committee, which Historical Pageant will long be remembered by the Citizens of Leicester.

He has served on many Council Committees but his chief interest has been the Finance, Markets, Parks, Town Planning and Transport Committees.

He is an ardent Horticulturalist.

He married in 1904, Ethel Rogers, daughter of the late John Robert Rogers, and by whom he has had issue, three sons and one daughter.
