Atlas of Social and Economic Conditions in Leicester
Although it originates from the city council, the Atlas of Social and Economic Conditions in Leicester was developed with our partners for regeneration in the city, notably Leicestershire Health and Leicestershire & Rutland Probation Service. To these bodies we are particularly grateful. This new technique is powerful and we hope to work with our partners in future editions of this Atlas.

Mapping deprivation, disadvantage or social exclusion is an important early step in the process of economic and social regeneration. City council policies affect everyone in Leicester, and, because of its position as a regional city, impact on the East Midlands as a whole. Against this background, however, certain communities call out for a stronger response to a greater need. The city council seeks to respond to that call.
This Atlas is a key document which poses many questions. That is its function; it is for the council, working with agencies in the city and the communities of Leicester, to seek to answer those questions.
