Key Stage 2 (English)

Key Stage 2 (English)
All 11 year old children are assessed in the three core subjects of English, Maths and Science. The results for each subject are reported on a 7 point scale. A typical 11 year old is expected to have reached level 4. In 1997, 52% of Leicester’s 11 year olds achieved Level 4 in the English tests compared with 63% nationally.

The chart shows that only in a small number of areas in the City is the average level of achievement similar to national expectations. These are predominantly in the south east of the city.

In a small number of areas the average level of achievement is close to level 2 - the level expected of a typical 7 year old. However the broad pattern is of lower than average levels of achievement across large areas of the city.
