Unemployment Rates

The unemployment rates shown opposite are for April 1998 and are based on information about people entitled to the Job Seekers Allowance . They show quite clearly that Wycliffe, North Braunstone and Spinney Hill wards experience by far the worse unemployment.

This, however, has been a long-term and persistent problem. These wards were among the worst when unemployment was measured in the 1981 Census.
