The Atlas of Social and Economic Conditions in Leicester continues to be a very popular publication. All 500 copies have now been sold yet the city council continues to receive requests for the Atlas.
To help accommodate these requests it has been decided to make the Atlas available on the Internet.
This Internet version has been changed slightly from the printed version. A new map has been added to the crime section. This shows the distribution of domestic burglaries across the city and we would like to thank the Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police for permission to use this information.
The Atlas continues to be well used within the city council for identifying potential local regeneration schemes, for the strategic planning of council services and for supporting bids for central government funding. It has also become a key document within the context of the partnership working with the Leicestershire Police, Leicestershire Health and other partners.
The ease with which information can be updated on the Internet means that this medium will become the predominant form of publication of future Atlases.
