The Employment Support Unit (ESU) aims to make you aware of the options that you have if choosing to take up employment and also what rights you have once you are employed.
 
The ESU tailors its service to help you make the right decisions to suit your personal needs - for instance a lone parent who needs flexible working arrangements and support for childcare. The unit can also advise on the entitlements that help to ensure that work pays.
 
For people who have been out of work for some time, starting employment can be a big step. The Employment Support Unit (ESU) have information that can help you make the right choice when taking up employment.
 
The unit provides information on rights and best practices on a range of employment issues that can help people make the decision to take up employment, including:
 
  • flexible working
  • support for child care
  • entitlements that help ensure that work pays
  • legislation on discrimination
